Media is a completely vague word. It exists in different meanings and can be comprehended in various ways. Although the meaning exists in different terms, it's easily understandable. Many of us use the word 'media' thinking we know the word by definition.
According to Business Dictionary media can be interpreted as a communication channel in which news, entertainment, education, data, or promotional messages can be spread. It also states that media includes every broadcasting, and narrowcasting medium like the newspaper, television, radios, billboards, telephones and the internet. Media is the plural word for medium but can be taken as plural or singular verb, depending on the intended sense.
While based on Wikipedia , Media in communication is defined as "one of the means or channels of general communication in society, as newspapers, radio, television etc." This supports the definition of media given by TechTerms which describes media as a various means of communication.The term is also used as a collective noun for the press or news reporting agencies.However in the computer world, media is used to refer to different types of data storage options.
After studying the meaning of media through various sources, I can conclude that media can be interpreted differently. However, the utmost popular definition of media stands as a channel of connectivity that enables us to transfer and spread just about anything to the public. Media is an object that we have to use wisely as the audience for it is huge. It can teach, give realization and even corrupt people. It is an influence.
